This study aims to comparatively represent the semantic constructs of “knowledge by presence” in the Holy Qur’an through a semantic approach and network analysis. To this end, fifteen key concepts within the semantic domain of cognition are examined: idrāk (perception), ittiḍlāʿ (awareness), uns (intimacy), baṣīra (insight), ḥafī (informed through persistent inquiry), ḥikma (wisdom), dirāya (comprehension), shuʿūr (awareness), ẓann (supposition), ʿuthūr (discovery), maʿrifa (recognition), ʿilm (knowledge), taʿaqqul (rational reflection), tafaqquh (deep understanding), and yaqīn (certainty). Employing a descriptive-analytical method, the study draws its data from lexical and exegetical sources. The findings demonstrate that although these concepts belong to a common semantic domain associated with knowledge by presence, each possesses distinctive semantic nuances and contributes to a dynamic and hierarchical network that represents the developmental process of cognition from sensory perception to existential certainty. Within this network, ʿilm functions as the central concept and constitutes its structural core, while baṣīra and ḥikma represent advanced stages of cognition and yaqīn constitutes the ultimate goal of the epistemic process. From a mystical perspective, the analysis indicates that the Qur’an depicts the development of knowledge as an existential process that begins with “existential connection” at the level of perception, proceeds through “inner intimacy” and “intuitive apprehension” at the level of insight, and culminates in “certain and present knowledge” at the level of certainty. The study ultimately demonstrates the potential of this semantic network for developing a Qur’anic theory of knowledge in which reason functions as an instrument of discernment and rational inquiry, while intuition and spiritual witnessing constitute a path toward existential connection with and apprehension of truth. This framework thus presents reason and intuition not as mutually exclusive modes of knowing, but as interconnected dimensions of a progressive and integrated epistemological continuum.
