Abstract:The foundation of religious experience, according to Rudolf Otto, is Nominous or Holy – Nominous or Holy which is inexpressible and incomprehensible and at the same time a priori. At the beginning of the book he says that he who does not have or cannot have any internal and spiritual experience of religion, it is better to stop reading this book. And since this is so, Otto, with his descriptions of manifestations of the holy within humans, attempts to do a fundamental task; that is, to say something about what is inexpressible! Of course, Otto has brought these descriptions in a dispersed manner, but all what is presented in this essay is a new and consistent interpretative formulation of these dispersed descriptions of Holy and manifestations of it. Nominous, being matter and unformed, must be manifested in different forms in order to manifest itself within human being. And if it does not, it will not be experienced within the human soul.
